Why did you join CrossFit: 

 

I was becoming more aware of CrossFit, which I thought was completely crazy, visited CFAON on their open day and had a chat with Karl. Joined on the spot! Everything is varied and the coaches really know their stuff and push us all. 

 

What are your best achievements in the gym:

 

In my entire life I have never been able to do either a hand stand or a mile run. Working with these guys I have achieved both!

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON: 

 

The in house competitions are hard but also great at the same time. It’s competitive with yourself more than others. Everyone else is really supportive motivating each other. 

 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

Just do it!! 

 

Personal comment:

 

Highly recommend these guys, don’t worry about not being the fittest or can’t do the exercises. No one can until they are coached and build up over time. When you get it - wow what a massive sense of achievement that the whole group celebrates!

Why did you join CrossFit: 

 

To feel part of a community where everyone has common interests and to challenge myself. I was bored of training in a gym on my own.

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

I have competed at multiple CrossFit competitions both in house and at other boxes. I never dreamed I would be able to do this when I started last year. 

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON: 

 

12 hero WOD day with all the crew coming together and beasting themselves to raise funds for Rock2Recovery.

 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

Do it! Don’t hesitate - it’s been the best decision I’ve made and I now look forward to working out everyday. This is down to the amazing atmosphere created by the coaches and members.

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

About 9 years ago I took park in a triathlon and really enjoyed it. About a year later I hurt my back and have suffered since. On getting a diagnosis about a year ago I was told if I can go 12months without pain I could try to make the muscles stronger to help live a pain free life. This is where Tanya said about it and said maybe give it ago as it promotes the fundamentals of movement. Now 8 months in I’m lifting heavier then I’ve ever done, moving freely with no worries and feel much fitter.

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

For charity there was a 12hr hero workout. I managed 8 but felt so proud to of been part of it.

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:

 

The community is the best part as they will help where they can wether it’s encouraging you, advise or just someone to talk to. 

 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

Use the FREE trials and have a go. There’s no obligation you won’t regret it.

 

Personal comment:

 

There is a lot going on within my family at the moment and I find just 1 session helps me keep a calm head around them so I can help them. It’s not just  physical help but mental aswell.

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

I wanted a new challenge!

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

Getting my toes to bar for the first time!!!!  And most recently completing a marathon with a 7kg weighted vest, split up into 1 mile every hour for 26 hours for Macmillan Cancer Support.

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:


linking ttb together after months of trying, Karl gave me different pointers and I actually cried with elation when it all fell into place

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

don't put it off!! There are no negatives from joining crossfit AON

 

Personal comment:

 

CrossFit is my medicine, from the moment I step into the gym I feel better in mind and body. The team are so supportive of everyone's individual goals it's very humbling

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

I joined CrossFit because I was bored of the same weekly gym routine. I was lifting heavier but not progressing and wanted a way of keeping cardio fit as well as strength fit. A friend suggested I try CrossFit and I have never looked back. 

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

Best achievement was winning a pairs competition with Natalie. As a team we pushed each other beyond our “normal” limits.

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:

The variety - every day is different to the last which is in turn different to the week before. The new skills that you learn, Olympic lifting, gymnastics and body weight moves are great. 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

CrossFit will help you become the best version of yourself. 

Leave your ego behind and join….it’s a great team, an amazing and encouraging family. You will learn new things and achieve things you never thought you would achieve. 

 

Personal comment:

I’m grateful to Team AON for the support they have given me since joining. As mentioned it’s not just a gym, it’s a family.

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

I joined CrossFit because I really wanted to learn how to weighlift, I really wanted to learn all the cool skills that come in the WODs. But most of all improve my all over fitness and really push myself!!

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

Probably my 1 and only muscle up 😅. (I will get back to them) 

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:

 

Learning the movements/skills, my favourite is toes to bar

 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

I would say 💯 do it. 

 

Personal comment:

 I absolutely love coming the  all of nothing CrossFit box! I’ve learnt so much this past year, I’ve been pushed further into my training by all the coaches and they have made me confident enough to do competitions. Thank you for being awesome 👏

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

Ive always been into keeping myself fit through various sports and work.I  heard about CrossFit AON,so I thought I'd give it a go,the rest is history.

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

I was never able to do a successful handstand all those years ago when I was a kid. The fact I can do a couple handstand push-ups is an achievement for an old man like myself. Also, attending the 0630 classes are the reason for the success in my opinion.

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:


Completing a Rope climb, I broke my arm badly years ago,and never thought I could do a task like that where your arms are literally pulling you up.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

Give the 3 x FREE trial sessions a go, come and meet the gang, you won't look back, it's a great AON family here.

 

Personal comment:

It doesn't matter what ability you are, they cater for all. I am by no means a weight lifter, and I'm usually in awe of some of the others in there, but we all have our strong points and everyone is treated the same, regardless of your level of ability.

CrossFit AON has set me new challenges and I love them.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:


I was treated like part of the family from day one. Coaches and members alike are super encouraging and there’s never been a moment where I have felt left out of a workout or a trip to the cafe. Nothing beats a community like this 

Personal comment:

 

There’s usually a dog to play with too!

 

Why did you join CrossFit:

 

I’ve always needed exercise to be happy. Without it I am zero fun to be around. I got bored of the usual stuff and wanted classes to help push me and like minded people to train with. The class time table is convenient for me with juggling kids and work too. 

 

What is your best achievement in the gym:

 

Just getting there and emptying the tank on a regular basis is achievement enough for me. 

 

Favourite moment/part of CFAON:

The atmosphere is genuinely amazing. There are some serious athletes and some rank amateurs like me. No ego anywhere; everyone is friendly and supportive. The coaches always have time for you. Personally my favourite sessions are the team WODs on wed and sat. I also love the gym layout, it feels like you’re really training and going through it together. 

What would you say to someone thinking about joining:

 

Don’t be scared, everyone is so welcoming!
